A Run In with US Immigration I should have read the signs. I didn’t spot them. Mistake number 1. On arriving in the American islands of Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands you are not allowed to dispose of any rubbish. We had been reading through (lampooning) “A Gentlemen’s Guide to Passages South: The Thorn less Path” by Bruce Van Sant to find helpful tips for sailing through the Caribbean against the trade winds. At last the winds died down and we made a plan to set sail. The French yachts had left a few days previously as they were heading down to Cuba and the winds were favourable. Being in Clarence Town for a week, we had got to know some people including a French/Canadian couple on a yacht called Cape Crusader.
